Because I found it hard to create patterns and having to think about their placement in the paper that would fit into the gradient at the same time, I decided to just draw all the patterns I could come up with first in a random order, the first piece focusing on lighter patterns and the second on darker patterns.
The two pieces were cut into its individual squares
And sorted into similar shades and/ or patterns
and finally put together to be copied in full on a new sheet of paper.
My final piece with some changes as I was not able to copy the collage exactly, while the pattern would be exactly the same there would be a difference in shade at times. Hence changes were made along the way to ensure that all the squares gain in darkness sequentially.
